Requirements
Must:
- 5-10+ years of pertinent experience in network engineering, CPE support, or similar technical roles
- Mid-level candidates should exhibit robust troubleshooting abilities and hands-on experience
- Senior-level candidates should possess extensive RCA expertise, escalation leadership, and inter-department collaboration experience
- Familiarity with PON technologies and basic knowledge of DOCSIS
- Practical CPE experience (modems, routers, Wi-Fi gateways, set-top boxes)
- Experience assisting escalation-level troubleshooting and RCA efforts
- Proficiency with device configuration files and firmware/log analysis
- Strong Linux proficiency (Bash, SSH, jump boxes)
- Scripting experience in Python, Perl, and/or Shell
- Exposure to CMTS/iCMTS or equivalent access network platforms
- Clear understanding of routing and switching principles
- Capacity to interpret firmware and network logs and comprehend message flow behavior
- Preferred: Familiarity with mesh Wi-Fi systems
- Preferred: Lab build, validation, or test-environment experience
- Preferred: Knowledge of advanced routing or multicast protocols (IPv4/IPv6)
- Preferred: Experience with SQL databases and REST APIs
- Preferred: Prior experience collaborating with hardware or software vendors
Responsibilities
- Conduct production CPE Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across DOCSIS, PON, and Wi-Fi firmware environments
- Troubleshoot intricate modem, router, mesh Wi-Fi, and access-network-related challenges
- Analyze firmware, system, and network logs to detect fault conditions and message flows
- Assist with escalation troubleshooting (P1/P2 incidents), including lab replication and validation of solutions
- Test and validate firmware, configuration changes, and engineering builds before deployment
- Partner with internal engineering, operations, and vendor teams to pinpoint defects and facilitate resolution
- Manage escalation tickets through resolution, ensuring solutions address core root causes
- Develop, maintain, and validate network test labs (switches, PDUs, modems, ONUs, CPE devices)
- Evaluate existing network technologies for performance, stability, and capacity gaps
- Provide insights to optimize network architecture, reliability, and operational processes
