Requirements
Must:
- Over 7 years of experience in software engineering
- At least 4 years of direct experience with Drools/KIE
- Strong skills in Java and Spring/Spring Boot
- Extensive knowledge of DRL, Decision Tables, and Rule Templates
- Proficient in managing stateless and stateful KIE sessions
- Experience in rule performance optimization and debugging
- Familiarity with policy-driven or decisioning systems
- Solid understanding of Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and CI/CD processes
- Bonus experience in developing lightweight orchestration layers with Apache Pekko
- Additional experience in solutions built on Python, JavaScript, or NodeJS is a plus
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and maintain Drools (KIE) rules integrating DRL, Decision Tables, and Rule Templates for complex underwriting, eligibility, and policy processes
- Enhance rule execution for minimal latency and maximum throughput by managing aspects like rule salience and agenda groups
- Ensure decisions made are deterministic, transparent, and compliant with regulatory standards
- Contribute to the architecture of decisioning and rules, crafting rule sets that emphasize reusability and systematic versioning
- Engage in design reviews and technical dialogues concerning rule design and platform advancements
- Develop unit tests and scenario-based assessments to verify rule functionality across decision pathways
- Diagnose production challenges concerning rule execution and assist with deployments in development, QA, and production settings
- Serve as an expert in Drools and best practices in business rules, guiding junior engineers
- Set and uphold standards for rule documentation, authorship, testing, and maintenance
