Requirements
Must:
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages like Python, Node.js, Java, C#, or similar for building integrations or platform extensions
- Strong grasp of API-based integrations, including REST and SOAP services, and familiarity with security measures (OAuth, JWT, API keys)
- Experience in designing B2B data exchange solutions with emphasis on data transformation, mapping logic, and handling exceptions
- Functional knowledge of DB2 for i, including querying and schema comprehension; advanced RPG development expertise isnt necessary
- Familiarity with IBM i UI modernization strategies and tools (e.g., Lansa, Profound UI, Valence) with the ability to assess their strengths and weaknesses
- Proficient in utilizing contemporary development tools like GitHub for version control and VS Code for coding tasks
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and a keen interest in implementing agent-based AI solutions for process automation
- Adequate knowledge of the IBM i platform to work collaboratively with an experienced RPGLE development team
- Ability to navigate both legacy enhancement projects and modern solution implementations with sound judgment on when to extend the ERP versus working within it
- Strong documentation practices and the capacity to communicate architectural concepts clearly to both technical teams and business stakeholders
- Comprehensive understanding of software development lifecycle principles and Agile methodologies from an architectural or technical leadership viewpoint
Responsibilities
- Lead the ongoing evolution of our IBM i (AS/400)-based Mincron ERP platform to maximize its value
- Collaborate closely with a skilled RPGLE development team to shape modernization priorities and guide enhancement initiatives
- Identify solutions to address functional gaps within Mincron, designing complementary solutions when native features are inadequate
- Create modern application overlays, automated workflows utilizing emerging AI capabilities, and integration systems for external trading partner connections
- Provide architectural leadership for user experience modernization efforts, overseeing the current Lansa implementation
- Conduct ongoing evaluations of UI strategies to ensure effectiveness for long-term use
- Function as a highly hands-on individual contributor with strategic influence, reporting directly to the VP of IT
