Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in SQL, especially PostgreSQL, or similar database languages with capacity to learn quickly
- Strong grasp of relational database principles including keys, constraints, normalization, and data integrity
- Proven experience in managing, updating, and auditing databases or datasets
- Advanced skills in Excel (utilizing filters, pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data validation; knowledge of Power Query is advantageous)
- Experience in conducting data audits and documenting findings, corrective actions, and outcomes systematically
- Capable of navigating ambiguous requests independently and effectively questioning stakeholders to gather requirements and confirm data definitions prior to building solutions
- Ability to articulate logical frameworks and assumptions to both technical and non-technical parties
- Demonstrates critical thinking ability, seeks to understand the why, identifies potential risks and edge cases, and suggests more effective methods rather than following procedures blindly
- Strong investigative skills to address inconsistencies and validate assumptions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating directly with stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Manage, update, and audit relational databases (PostgreSQL) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and traceability
- Develop and enhance SQL queries, including multi-table joins, data aggregation, and validation checks
- Conduct data quality assessments, identify discrepancies, and document root causes and solutions
- Create and maintain Excel-based tools for auditing (including pivots, lookups, and Power Query where applicable) to support reporting and verification
- Collaborate with internal users to gather requirements, challenge unclear requests, and convert business needs into data definitions and logic
- Document processes including table definitions, field mappings, audit outcomes, and change logs
- Drive improvements and controls related to data updates, permissions, and governance processes
