Requirements
Must:
- Over 5 years of experience in a mainframe (z/OS) operational or automation context
- Practical knowledge of NetView for z/OS and System Automation for z/OS
- Proficient understanding of TSO/ISPF, JCL, REXX programming, and System Automation Policy Database (PDB)
- Background in z/OS automation migration initiatives
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure and operations teams
- Experience in migrating from CA OPS/MVS and CA Automation Point is preferred
- Familiarity with z/OS system startup/shutdown procedures and SMP/E installation and configuration is a plus
- Insight into competing ISV automation tools and enterprise monitoring integrations is beneficial
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the transition of CA OPS/MVS rules and REXX automation scripts to IBM Tivoli Systems Automation for z/OS
- Transform and verify existing automation logic into the IBM System Automation Policy Database (PDB)
- Shift CA Automation Point configurations to SAIOM
- Set up, configure, and adapt SA z/OS and SAIOM environments
- Conduct policy definition, verification, and testing in both development and production sysplex settings
- Assist with system startup, shutdown, and failover automation arrangements
- Create and modify REXX execs to facilitate automation migration
- Establish policy-based automation standards to minimize manual processes
- Integrate automation systems with NetView for z/OS and other monitoring solutions
- Confirm event-driven automation triggers and system responses
- Aid in maintaining high-availability setups and fully automated system scenarios
- Resolve automation conflicts, rule failures, and system incidents
- Work collaboratively with system programmers and infrastructure teams
- Enhance automation processes for better system dependability
- Provide support and maintenance post-migration
- Document setups, procedures, and best practices for future reference
