Requirements
Must:
- Strong expertise in Databricks and Spark (PySpark, SQL, Delta, Unity Catalog)
- Proven skills in data engineering (ingestion, modeling, orchestration, performance optimization)
- Solid understanding of statistics, economics, and data science principles, particularly related to market time series
- Experience in developing LLM solutions (prompting, retrieval, agent workflows; LangGraph, MCP) and integrating with trading data/services
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes, Terraform, MLflow/feature stores, vector databases, and data governance policies (e.g., PII handling, data lineage)
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities; capable of collaborating closely with traders and analysts and delivering prompt results
- Background in commodity or financial trading is advantageous
- Knowledge of market microstructure, supply-demand fundamentals, and risk management
Responsibilities
- Design and implement AI-driven analytics for front office applications including seasonality, correlation, regression, forecasting, and scenario modeling
- Construct reusable and scalable data pipelines using Databricks (PySpark/Spark, Delta/Unity Catalog), while optimizing costs, reliability, and performance
- Conduct statistical and econometric analyses on extensive datasets such as market and fundamental time series data
- Collaborate directly with traders and analysts by translating complex questions into tangible solutions and clearly communicating insights
- Implement LLM and agentic workflows, including prompt engineering, LangGraph orchestration, MCP integrations, tool calling, retrieval, and establishing guardrails
- Productionize solutions with a focus on testing, observability, versioning, and documentation
Description
We are seeking an AI Engineer (Trading Analytics & Data Engineering) to join our team in Houston, TX, in a hybrid role requiring two days on-site. This position demands a solid foundation in data engineering along with exceptional communication abilities, ideally coupled with experience in commodity or financial trading. The successful candidate will work closely with traders and trading analysts to swiftly develop AI-powered analytics utilizing market pricing and fundamental data, employing Databricks and Spark for rapid value delivery.
