Requirements
Must:
- I hold a terminal degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Game Design and Development, Human-Computer Design and Development, Computing or a related field. I possess the academic background and qualifications necessary to attain tenure as a Professor within the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development at Kennesaw State University at the time of hire.
- I exhibit a strong commitment to Computing disciplines, with a substantial track record of scholarship and research that has led to securing external funding.
- I have demonstrated effective leadership experience.
- I possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- I can work collaboratively and productively with faculty and students.
- I have experience mentoring and advising early career faculty, as well as undergraduate and graduate students in research pursuits.
Responsibilities
- I will provide dynamic and effective leadership for the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development (SWEGD).
- I will enhance the department's reputation and visibility at both local and national levels.
- I will promote academic excellence, foster a robust research environment, and assist in securing external funding.
- I will mentor and guide faculty and students, thereby enhancing research activities and academic achievements.
- I will ensure the effective and efficient provision of college-wide courses.
- I will work to improve student success in the First Year Experience Program.
- I will strategically manage enrollment growth and program development in the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development.
- I will work to enhance the curriculum, retention, and graduation rates in Software Engineering and Game Design and Development programs.
- I will advocate on behalf of the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development faculty and programs, ensuring their needs and aspirations are effectively represented.
Description
Kennesaw State University is actively seeking applications for the position of tenured Professor and Chair of the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development within the College of Computing and Software Engineering. We are aiming for this role to start on July 1, 2026. This is a twelve-month contracted position that will take place in the state of Georgia. With more than 60 years of enriching the community through our entrepreneurial spirit, we are located just north of Atlanta across our Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.
