Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline
- At least 5 years of programming experience, including system analysis and design
- Preferred experience in software lifecycle and change management
- Understanding of fundamental health insurance processes such as claims processing, provider data management, and member enrollment
- Development experience in Unix AIX environments and proficiency with DB2 databases
- Expertise in COBOL for maintaining and enhancing legacy systems
- Solid knowledge of embedded SQL, query performance optimization, and reporting methodologies
- Proficiency in Unix shell scripting and SQL programming
- Familiarity with Visual Studio, Azure environments, and SQL Server is a plus
- Experience with EDI formats such as 834, 837, or 278, and understanding of their relevant standards
- Previous experience in healthcare IT or payer-side operations is highly preferred
- Working knowledge of data security and compliance principles in healthcare systems is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Analyze and design software systems to meet business requirements
- Develop, maintain, and optimize applications in Unix AIX environments
- Write and execute efficient SQL queries to enhance data retrieval and reporting
- Utilize COBOL for legacy system management and performance improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and streamline health insurance processes
- Ensure compliance with data security regulations and best practices in healthcare
- Document system changes and updates throughout the software lifecycle
- Participate in change management activities to ensure smooth transitions and deployment
- Contribute to the development of scripts for automation processes
- Engage in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise
