Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a recognized national certification (e.g., ASPT, ASCP) is preferred
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
- Strong hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity for performing procedures and using electronic equipment
- Proficiency in utilizing multiple computer systems for tracking and receiving orders
- Ability to learn specimen requirements for over 2000 tests, including timing and anatomy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity for self-direction and independent judgment in collaborative situations
- Team-oriented mindset to enhance departmental efficiency
Responsibilities
- Perform specimen collections and testing in accordance with laboratory policies
- Enter and monitor computer data and workflow
- Assess environment to ensure patient safety and select appropriate equipment
- Maintain chain of custody for forensic collections
- Keep HRP and pending log lists updated
- Organize workflow to enhance efficiency
- Answer phones, fax reports, and maintain inventory
- Ensure a clean working environment
- Conduct offsite specimen collections when necessary
- Undertake additional duties as assigned
