Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field (Aerospace, Systems, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering)
- Over 8 years of experience in safety-critical software design, development, testing, or analysis
- Practical experience with flight-critical systems (Flight Controls, Engine Control, Fuel, Landing Gear, Displays, Stores Management, etc.)
- Comprehensive lifecycle experience with system/software safety analyses, standards, and tools
- Demonstrated ability to guide technical projects and liaise with senior leadership and clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Carry out software system safety activities throughout development, testing, integration, and release phases
- Identify, evaluate, and reduce software-related hazards using both qualitative and quantitative techniques
- Create, update, and implement the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)
- Conduct Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Software Hazard Analysis (SHA)
- Offer safety expertise to software development, verification, and qualification teams
- Direct safety initiatives on contractual deliverables ensuring high technical standards and timely execution
- Synchronize safety activities with internal engineering teams, suppliers, leadership, and external clients
- Draft and review technical safety reports and compliance documentation
- Mentor and support junior safety engineers within the team
Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Safety Engineer to join our team supporting a significant military aircraft program in Fort Worth, TX. This role concentrates on software system safety for intricate, safety-critical avionics and aircraft subsystems, where youll play a vital part in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating hazards throughout the product lifecycle. Youll be a member of our System Safety Team, engaging closely with various stakeholders including software developers, systems engineers, test teams, suppliers, and government clients. This position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $80.00 to $120.00, along with potential for extension or permanent placement.
