Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years of experience in data engineering or data architecture
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Databricks (preferably on Google Cloud Platform), Spark, PySpark/Scala, and Delta Lake
- Solid experience in cloud technologies (Google Cloud Platform preferred; familiarity with AWS/Azure acceptable)
- Knowledge of vector databases and embeddings for retrieval-augmented generation or large language models
- Proficient in SQL and data warehousing principles
- Demonstrated ability to enhance ETL processes and cluster efficiency
- Strong foundation in data governance and security practices (such as Unity Catalog or equivalent)
- Proven leadership capabilities and exceptional communication skills
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and teamwork
Responsibilities
- Guide and develop a high-performing data engineering team
- Take ownership of Databricks architecture, encompassing Spark, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse design
- Implement Unity Catalog for effective governance, access management, and data lineage
- Enhance SQL workloads, Spark jobs, and overall platform efficiency
- Build robust pipelines handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
- Incorporate Databricks workflows into CI/CD pipelines utilizing Git and DevOps best practices
- Maintain strong data security measures, including masking, encryption, and audit logging
- Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business leaders to provide impactful data solutions
Description
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to spearhead the design and optimization of our Databricks Lakehouse platform on Google Cloud Platform. This is a direct hire opportunity, requiring 3 days a week in-office presence in Elk Grove, CA. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team of data engineers, manage the entire data architecture lifecycle, and develop scalable data pipelines that underpin our analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives across the organization. We value strong leadership and the ability to articulate our data strategy effectively to both technical and executive audiences.
