Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in a science or engineering discipline.
- Over 2 years of experience with modeling and simulation research in the medical device field or a comparable area.
- Masters or PhD in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering is preferred.
- Proficiency in finite element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-Dyna), CAD software (e.g., Pro/Engineer, Solidworks), and custom programming languages (e.g., Fortran, Matlab, Python).
- Familiarity with musculoskeletal simulation packages (e.g., OpenSim).
- Ability to participate in complex, discovery-driven research from inception to conclusion.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanics, engineering principles, emerging technologies, and product development methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to provide innovative analytical, process, or material solutions in research contexts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough literature reviews to establish a foundation for analytical methodologies and assumptions.
- Implement static and dynamic nonlinear multibody finite element analyses, including deformable contact and advanced material properties for realistic simulations.
- Create and automate new methodologies through custom programming as necessary.
- Assess analytical results and suggest modifications in design, processes, or materials based on characterizations.
- Develop and validate analytical models to enhance understanding of research-related topics.
- Exhibit strong technical writing skills to produce reports for regulatory submissions, conference abstracts, and scholarly articles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovatively develop next-generation technologies and devices.
- Stay informed about competitive technologies to generate solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Work with clinical advisors to gather insights for the assessment and advancement of new technologies.
- Select and coordinate proposals for modeling and simulation research at external universities and laboratories.
