Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Nondestructive Evaluation.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience or a suitable combination of education and experience is preferred.
- ASNT Level 2 or 3 certifications in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), or Eddy Current Testing (ET) are advantageous.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Capability to present technical and conceptual information to various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with ultrasonic inspection instruments, systems, and software for composites and related techniques.
- Knowledge of equipment for magnetic particle, penetrant, and eddy current inspections.
- Understanding of radiographic inspection technologies.
- Experience in reference standard development and fabrication.
- Exposure to robotics, 3D modeling, 3D printing, Computed Tomography (CT), and Ultrasonic Phased Array methods.
- Background in a scientific or engineering laboratory setting.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret ultrasonic inspection data.
- Design reference standards to facilitate inspections.
- Create and develop non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection strategies and sequences.
- Evaluate and authorize inspection techniques from internal and supplier sources.
- Develop and validate NDT inspection protocols.
- Certify and qualify NDT inspection tools and technologies.
- Stay updated on NDE Methods relevant to the role (such as Ultrasonics, Radiography, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant).
- Collaborate with the engineering team to define specifications for tools, materials, and processes related to product development.
- Produce technical documentation and specifications to manage deployment of tools and processes.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure alignment on inspection requirements and feasibility.
- Assist in certifying and qualifying NDE equipment for various applications.
- Support NDE specialists with the advancement and deployment of new inspection methodologies.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective measures for NDT-related issues.
- Evaluate and enhance manufacturing process inspections through NDT methods.
- Compile and present reports documenting evaluation activities, results, and new procedures.
- Develop computer and production systems to meet user requirements.
- Employ project management tools to ensure adherence to budget, technical specifications, and timelines.
- Collaborate with Principal/Senior Nondestructive Evaluation engineers for the development and certification of evaluation technologies.
- Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.
- Advocate for standardization across operational aspects.
- Implement corrective and preventive strategies.
- Integrate environmental health, safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into products and processes.
- Work independently, guided by Principal/Senior Nondestructive Evaluation engineers to implement advanced evaluation technologies.
