Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry from an accredited institution
- Over 3 years of experience in Nondestructive Evaluation
- 5+ years of relevant experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- ASNT Level 2 or 3 certifications in UT, RT, MT, PT, or ET is a plus
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Capability to communicate technical concepts to audiences at all organizational levels
- Proficiency with instruments, systems, and software for ultrasonic inspection of composites using various techniques
- Knowledge of equipment used for magnetic particle, penetrant, and eddy current inspections
- Familiarity with tools and systems for radiographic inspections
- Understanding of reference standard development and fabrication
- Experience with robotics, 3D modeling, 3D printing, Computed Tomography (CT), and/or Ultrasonic Phased Array
- Background in an engineering or scientific laboratory setting
- Skilled in interpreting drawings and utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret ultrasonic inspection results
- Design reference standards for conducting inspections
- Develop and plan NDT inspection strategies and sequences
- Review and approve inspection techniques for both internal teams and suppliers
- Create and validate NDT inspection protocols
- Qualify NDT inspection equipment for efficacy
- Cultivate proficiency in NDE methods pertinent to the role, including Ultrasonics, Radiography, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant
- Assist in defining requirements for tools, materials, and processes used in product design, manufacturing, and maintenance
- Draft engineering specifications and documents to guide the deployment of tools and processes
- Collaborate across multiple engineering teams to align on inspection capabilities and requirements
- Support the certification and qualification processes for NDE equipment
- Aid NDE specialists in developing and standardizing new inspection techniques, along with necessary documentation and training
- Contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective measures related to NDT in order to minimize repetitive rework and enhance existing procedures
- Evaluate NDT technologies to bolster inspection processes for new and current programs
- Compile comprehensive reports detailing evaluations, results, interpretations, and procedural updates
- Develop computer and production systems that meet user specifications
- Utilize project management tools to fulfill cost, technical, and scheduling requirements
- Collaborate under the guidance of Principal/Senior Nondestructive Evaluation engineers to advance the certification and implementation of Nondestructive Evaluation technologies
- Ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory requirements
- Promote standardization across business initiatives
- Implement proactive corrective and preventive actions
- Design and develop systems to meet user needs, incorporating project management principles
