Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology or related disciplines considered
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in product design, development, testing, and/or manufacturing with a technical background in mechanical assemblies, particularly in fluid and motion control
- Hands-on experience in setting up and operating mechatronics or electro-mechanical test fixtures
- Familiarity with typical lab instrumentation such as actuators, pressure/force transducers, flow meters, and thermocouples
- Experience in developing control or automation software to support mechatronic test fixtures
- Proficiency in specifying, setting up, and running data acquisition (DAQ) systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware/software integration issues
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with test, control, and DAQ applications using LabVIEW, Python, and/or MATLAB (preferred)
- Understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based hardware (preferred)
- Experience with additive manufacturing processes and 3D printers (preferred)
- Knowledge of CAD design software or similar (NX preferred) (preferred)
- Understanding of GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and ability to perform tolerance stack-ups on complex assemblies (preferred)
- Familiarity with the Scrum agile methodology (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a cross-functional team to design fluidic and mechatronic test fixtures
- Engage with design engineering teams to create comprehensive test plans
- Execute test plans, prepare formal reports, and communicate findings to the design team
- Conduct thorough engineering analysis of both new and existing designs to confirm reliability and adherence to design intent
- Diagnose and troubleshoot any issues with test fixtures as required
- Maintain a clean and organized lab to ensure a safe working environment
- Regularly calibrate and maintain equipment according to industry quality standards
- Participate actively in design reviews with the cross-functional team
- Work closely with engineers, machinists, and management to achieve project goals
Description
We are currently looking for a Lab Test Engineer for a contract position based in Newark, DE, offering an hourly salary ranging from $37.00 to $50.00. This role is pivotal within our Mechanical Engineering department, supporting the testing of fluidics and mechatronics subsystems critical to the accuracy and efficiency of diagnostic instruments. Attention to detail and quality assurance are paramount as we aim to ensure optimal system performance. We value collaboration and provide an environment where you can work alongside engineering teams to develop test plans, conduct tests, and generate detailed reports.
