Requirements
Must:
- 7-10+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
- At least 3-5 years of experience in asset management, fund administration, buy-side, custodial, or investment services environments
- Demonstrated experience in leading or managing a data platform modernization project
- Experience with complex legacy systems and multiple data sources
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Familiarity with Snowflake
- Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms, including storage, orchestration, and serverless services
- Understanding of data modeling techniques (dimensional modeling, SCDs, snapshots)
- Knowledge of data quality frameworks (dbt tests, Great Expectations, data contracts)
- Experience with CI/CD practices for data pipelines
- Experience migrating stored procedures to modern ELT architectures
- Expertise in investment data lifecycle including positions, transactions, pricing, benchmarks, corporate actions, and cash flows
- Exposure to multiple asset classes like equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternatives
- Experience in portfolio analytics such as returns, attribution, and risk metrics
- Familiarity with risk systems (Aladdin, RiskMetrics, Barra, or similar)
- Knowledge of middle and back-office systems like OMS and portfolio accounting platforms
- Experience working with financial data vendors like Bloomberg, MSCI, and FactSet
- Understanding of IBOR versus ABOR data models
Responsibilities
- Lead the migration from outdated data pipelines, stored procedures, and spreadsheets to a modern cloud data platform
- Design and develop reliable, well-structured data layers that facilitate firm-wide reporting and analytics
- Rebuild existing business logic in tested, version-controlled, and thoroughly documented code
- Ensure data accuracy across various source systems and set enterprise data quality standards
- Define and promote practical data quality practices, including fix-at-source solutions, downstream remediation, or documented exceptions
- Maintain existing reporting and analytics throughout the transition
- Collaborate with investment, operations, and technology teams to ensure consistent data definitions and applications
