Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience managing enterprise data platforms (Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Analytics platforms)
- Solid grasp of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and BI/reporting ecosystems
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
- Exceptional SQL proficiency with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot data-related issues
- Understanding of monitoring, alerting, and operational support tools
- Knowledge of data security, access controls, and compliance standards
- Proven experience in Data Operations, Data Support, or Platform Operations roles
- Solid understanding of ITIL / Service Management practices (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
- Experience in defining and managing SLAs, OLAs, and operational KPIs
- Exposure to data governance frameworks, quality programs, and audit procedures
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar enterprise reporting platforms (preferred)
- Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, or analogous modern data platforms (preferred)
- Experience with automation, DevOps, and CI/CD for data platforms (preferred)
- Understanding of Agile and SAFe delivery models (preferred)
- Domain knowledge in Insurance, Banking, or Financial Services (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage end-to-end data operations across various data platforms, warehouses, and analytics systems
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance levels of data pipelines and reporting solutions
- Establish, monitor, and manage SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics for data services
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and resolution of data-related issues
- Supervise production support, release coordination, and operational readiness workflows
- Drive data quality initiatives including monitoring, validation, reconciliation, and remediation
- Implement data governance standards, policies, and best practices
- Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and regulatory obligations
- Collaborate with governance teams regarding data lineage, metadata management, and data stewardship
- Act as the primary liaison for business stakeholders concerning data operations
- Translate business objectives into actionable operational plans
- Provide regular updates on operational status, risks, and performance to leadership
- Support critical business reporting, regulatory submissions, and executive dashboards
- Lead and mentor data operations, platform, and support teams, both onshore and offshore
- Act as a Scrum Master, facilitating scrum ceremonies and agile processes
- Coordinate with data engineering, BI, cloud, and platform teams
- Promote continuous improvement through automation and operational efficiency
- Assist in vendor and partner management as required
Description
We are seeking a skilled Data Operations & Service Management Lead to join our team. This contract position, lasting between 6 to 12 months with a potential extension, can be worked in a hybrid model with a preference for onsite attendance in New York City, Princeton, NJ, or Hartford, CT. The successful candidate will supervise day-to-day data operations across our enterprise data platforms, ensuring data quality and operational reliability.
