Requirements
Must:
- Strong experience in Data Modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical)
- Proficiency in data modeling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, Sparx EA, or similar
- In-depth knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas)
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus
- Hands-on experience in Property & Casualty (P&C), Life, Annuity, or Reinsurance
- Strong understanding of:
- Policy lifecycle (Quote – Bind – Issue – Endorse – Renew)
- Claims lifecycle and financial aspects
- Billing and invoicing processes
- Reinsurance structures
- Familiarity with insurance platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sapiens, or similar is highly desirable
- Experience with data governance, data lineage, and metadata management is a plus
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance reporting in the insurance sector
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Exposure to analytics, reporting, or AI/ML use cases
- Strong SQL skills for data validation and analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Capacity to convert business concepts into technical data structures
- Experience working in global delivery models
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for insurance systems and data platforms
- Collaborate with business analysts, underwriters, actuaries, claims, billing, and IT teams to gather and enhance data requirements
- Model essential insurance entities including Policy, Coverage, Risk, Claim, Exposure, Party, Billing, and Reinsurance
- Support data modeling efforts for transactional systems, data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and data governance policies
- Define data definitions, business rules, relationships, and metadata
- Assist with data integration, migration, and modernization initiatives, including legacy-to-cloud transformations
- Review and optimize data models for performance, scalability, and data quality
- Work alongside data engineers and developers during the implementation phase
- Engage in design reviews, impact assessment, and documentation processes
Description
We are looking for a skilled Data Modeler with expertise in the insurance domain to join our hybrid team in Princeton, NJ. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level data models that support underwriting, policy administration, claims, billing, and analytics initiatives. We offer competitive hourly rates between $65.00 and $70.00, and the position is expected to last between 6 to 12 months.
