Requirements
Must:
- We require a bachelors degree in engineering such as mechanical, industrial, or aerospace, or journeyman machinist experience with 2-5+ years in manufacturing.
- We value hands-on experience in heavy industrial, automotive, or aerospace environments, especially with metal machining, welding, and fabrication.
- We need knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100.
- We expect proficiency with MS Office and quality analysis tools such as Minitab or similar software.
- We look for strong problem-solving ability, process capability understanding, data analysis skills, measurement systems analysis, GD&T knowledge, and blueprint reading proficiency.
- We seek excellent planning, organization, leadership, and team-building capabilities.
- We want demonstrated experience leading and facilitating product, process, and system improvement teams.
- Lean or Six Sigma training and accomplishments are preferred.
- CNC machining experience, both CNC and manual, is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- We provide day-to-day quality engineering support for our Grantley Plant operations.
- We lead and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to lower the cost of poor quality, improve first-pass yield, increase throughput, and support on-time delivery.
- We track and analyze quality metrics such as scrap, rework, and first-pass yield for CI teams.
- We manage non-conforming material and help guide disposition decisions.
- We facilitate and lead the Material Review Board.
- We perform measurement systems analysis and process capability studies as needed.
- We partner with customer service to resolve product concerns, warranty issues, and related complaints.
- We help develop and update procedures and standard work to strengthen our quality system.
- We create inspection plans for verifying manufactured and purchased parts.
- We complete first article dimensional reviews for internally and externally made components.
- We review and approve design, manufacturing, and inspection test results for compliance.
- We participate in ECN activities and product team discussions to close quality gaps.
- We conduct internal quality system audits.
- We support supplier audits, supplier qualification, and new product launches through APQP requirements.
- We work directly with key suppliers to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns.
- We contribute to warranty reduction initiatives.
- We deliver quality system training when required.
- We maintain current knowledge of government and industry codes and standards.
- We follow our code of conduct and business ethics requirements.

We are Johnson Controls Federal Systems, a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. This onsite role is based in York, PA at our Grantley Plant and supports machining and compressor assembly operations for our Navy Systems business.
