Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 8 years of mechanical engineering experience in HVAC or a related technology-driven manufacturing sector.
- Proven experience in supervising teams of technical professionals.
- Demonstrated capability to manage complex product development projects.
- In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering principles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, airflow basics, and DFMEA.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively in a dynamic engineering setting.
- Preferred: Experience with prototype production and laboratory evaluations.
- Preferred: Knowledge of commercial HVAC manufacturing procedures, such as sheet-metal working, fastening techniques, insulation application, brazing, and welding.
- Preferred: Experience with configurable product systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in system-level design and technical decision-making across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains.
- Develop product architectures, design frameworks, and technical strategies in line with business and manufacturing goals.
- Serve as the final technical authority for intricate design assessments and evaluations.
- Mentor and oversee engineers and designers across various disciplines.
- Allocate tasks, prioritize engineering efforts, and manage resources across projects.
- Assess and approve engineering outputs and deliver constructive coaching and feedback.
- Spearhead new product development and significant design projects from conception through to production launch.
- Identify technical challenges and implement mitigation strategies throughout development initiatives.
- Foster collaboration among engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and testing teams.
- Establish and uphold engineering standards and best design practices.
- Ensure adherence to relevant safety and regulatory standards.
- Assist in DFMEA, root cause analysis, and ongoing improvement activities.
- Conduct mechanical analysis and design work for HVAC units, components, and assemblies, including sheet-metal work, insulation, fans, motors, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Implement design enhancements to improve manufacturability, serviceability, performance, and product quality.
- Collaborate with the testing laboratory to outline and carry out testing protocols that confirm performance and reliability.
- Aid manufacturing engineering with DFMA enhancements to facilitate a smooth transition from design to production.
- Offer mechanical expertise to applications engineering, sales, service, and field teams concerning product features, installation issues, and troubleshooting.
