Requirements
Must:
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Experience with special hazard and clean agent suppression systems.
- Knowledge of enclosure and hazard types.
- Hands-on experience with various clean agents.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PDF software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn hydraulic software.
- Capability to finalize project drawings.
- Experience in material management.
- Understanding of compliance requirements.
- Strong time management and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in identifying design flaws.
- Capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Ansul and Kidde systems.
- Familiarity with VESDA detection systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience with fire alarm systems.
- 5+ years of suppression design experience.
- NICET certification or a willingness to obtain it.
Responsibilities
As a Special Hazard System Designer, you will independently create fire suppression systems, focusing on special hazards, clean agents, and gas systems tailored for data environments. Your contributions will be vital in producing detailed documentation and drawings which communicate design intent to clients, consultants, and project teams.
Your key tasks will include:
- Managing your workload while mentoring junior designers to promote effective collaboration.
- Reviewing medium complexity designs to ensure compliance and provide value-engineered solutions.
- Collaborating with teams to develop technical submissions, including schematics that align with project specifications.
- Utilizing field experience with clean agents to prepare documentation for critical environments.
- Performing calculations to ensure adherence to standards.
- Participating in design meetings and providing insights based on your hands-on experience.
- Preparing bills of materials for project execution.
- Ensuring submissions align with equipment compatibility and project requirements.
- Assisting Project Managers in maintaining project margins through effective solutions.
- Promptly responding to inquiries regarding fire suppression systems.
- Supporting commissioning efforts to verify system performance.
- Offering technical support to field teams and subcontractors.
- Assisting with pre-sales estimates to ensure proposal accuracy.
- Mentoring team members on documentation practices and stepping in during their absence.
- Reviewing team outputs for quality assurance.
- Tracking hours worked to align with project budgets.
