Requirements
Must:
I am excited to find candidates that meet our minimum qualifications for the position. You should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. You must thrive in a highly collaborative environment where others depend on you for timely deliverables. I am looking for someone with over three years of experience in real-time software design and development. Familiarity with at least one object-oriented programming language (C++ is preferred) and experience using common DevOps toolchains (like GitLab) is essential. You should also be skilled in one or more scripting languages (such as Python or Perl) and possess a strong interest in designing and assessing software architecture. Willingness to occasionally travel to sponsor sites for testing events and data collection is a plus. A willingness to learn new programming languages, software frameworks, and methodologies is crucial. You'll truly stand out if you exceed our base requirements by being an expert in multiple software languages and concepts listed above, having experience with tactical systems, combat systems, radar, electronic warfare, tactical networks, or weaponry. Familiarity with target tracking systems or algorithms, comfort in designing concurrent software, and proficiency with C++11 (or newer) would be highly regarded. An advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field would also be advantageous.
Responsibilities
As a Software Systems Engineer, you will actively engage with users and engineers to comprehend their needs and real-world use cases. Your primary responsibilities will include designing software that meets these requirements, communicating proposed solutions with the team, and implementing and testing software solutions. You will have the opportunity to work with real-time tactical systems and enhance these systems through code refactoring and the addition of new functionalities. You’ll also develop prototype software solutions to facilitate concept design and exploration, leveraging contemporary software development methodologies such as automated testing, continuous integration, and rapid iteration. Lastly, you will clearly convey designs, implementations, and outcomes through reports, peer reviews, and presentations in a supportive team environment, ensuring that the software you design is testable, extensible, and maintainable.
