Requirements
Must:
- B.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field with specialized training in US Navy maritime navigation.
- Over 2 years of demonstrable experience in US Navy maritime navigation system operations.
- Practical knowledge of navigation sensors and familiarity with navigation system architectures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and presentations to colleagues and government sponsors.
- Enthusiasm for tackling complex technical challenges through independent research and teamwork.
- Willingness to occasionally travel for work and embark on surface ships and/or submarines.
- Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
- Preferred: M.S. or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a comparable field.
- Preferred: 10 years of proven experience in US Navy maritime navigation system operations.
- Preferred: Active Top Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on advanced surface and subsurface navigation systems operating under challenging conditions to support critical US military missions.
- Collaborate with a talented team of mathematicians, engineers, and physicists focused on navigation analysis, along with opportunities to engage with experts from diverse technical backgrounds.
- Assess the performance of cutting-edge inertial navigation systems and supporting aids, including sonar and GNSS.
- Contribute to the development of analytical techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of navigation systems.
- Participate in studies shaping the design of next-generation navigation systems.
- Identify potential navigation capabilities and technical solutions for strategic planning and development.
- Draft test plans, provide support for testing, and conduct analyses of navigation sensor system performance post-test.
- Assist in navigation training for sailors and colleagues.
