Requirements
Must:
- A Masters degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering with a focus on optics, photonics, or electromagnetics
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the design, development, or testing of electro-optical or infrared systems and sensors.
- Strong grasp of optical physics, including radiative transfer, atmospheric phenomena, and light-matter interactions
- Experience in EO/IR image processing
- Proficient in MATLAB or Python programming
- Willingness to travel up to 5% as required.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- An active Secret security clearance with the capability to achieve a TS/SCI clearance, including U.S. citizenship eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Design and model the performance of current and future optical sensors for passive and active sensing in controlled environments
- Comprehend how the performance of individual EO/IR sensors impacts the overall sensor system
- Define analytical approaches and execute detailed trade studies for sponsor-driven work in EO/IR sensing, utilizing existing modeling and simulation tools
- Create hardware and testbeds for sensors to validate and enhance optical systems across various applications in remote sensing and multi-domain operations
- Collaborate on the development and evaluation of multi-spectral sensor systems (RF and EO/IR)
- Present findings to sponsors and primary contractors to influence program direction
- Explore opportunities to transform research outcomes into whitepapers, conference presentations, journal articles, or internal and external publications.
