Requirements
Must:
- Possess a Maryland Second Grade Stationary Engineers license
- Have experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Understand applicable plumbing and mechanical operations, with the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, O&M manuals, and diagrams
- Capable of working independently in both routine and emergency situations
- Effective communicator with basic computer skills
- Willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a watch engineer role; adhere to personal protective equipment guidelines; and operate vehicles and industrial machinery
- Valid state drivers license in good standing
- Willing to work outdoors in inclement weather and walk campus rounds
- Able to work overtime as needed and assist other trades when required
- Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status to access APLs facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws
- Familiarity with Johnson Controls METASYS building automation systems is a plus
- Experience in emergency response, hazardous materials handling, and knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations, or CFC Certification is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor all physical plant equipment, ensuring regular checks of mechanical and machine rooms for full service
- Start up and transition equipment; perform minor preventive maintenance tasks and maintain machinery history logs
- Respond to facility service outages by executing immediate repairs or calling in appropriate personnel
- Oversee and manage equipment operations through the building automation system and respond to alarms that may require resetting or emergency repairs
- Secure and restore utility services during emergency situations or unscheduled outages
- Utilize APL vehicles as part of daily operations
