Requirements

Must:
- A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - At least 3 years of experience managing Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu). - Proficiency in scripting or automating processes with Bash, Python, or similar languages. - A proactive, self-motivated attitude towards preventing outages, enhancing performance, and ensuring the security and reliability of systems. - Exceptional troubleshooting abilities with a determination to identify root causes of issues. - Interest in crafting secure, well-engineered systems, including familiarity with compliance and security standards such as DFARS, FIPS, and STIGs. - A collaborative mindset with effective written and verbal communication skills. - Eligibility to obtain a Secret level security clearance, including U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

- Construct, set up, and maintain Linux systems that support secure research and operational initiatives across the Laboratory. - Diagnose intricate system and application challenges, cooperating with team members, researchers, and vendors to develop robust solutions. - Ensure system health through regular patching, monitoring, performance tuning, and analytical problem-solving. - Contribute to the Linux Administration Team by developing automation, refining documentation, and exchanging ideas that shape long-term architecture. - Engage in defining the security, automation, and scalability of Linux at APL—your insights and curiosity will be highly valued.
