Requirements
Must:
- Hold a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of overall experience with Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) flight projects or closely related technologies and analyses, such as Thermal Protection Systems (TPS), parachutes, and atmospheric flight dynamics.
- Have familiarity with TPS materials, particularly ablative options like Phenolic Impregnated Carbon Ablator (PICA) and Carbon-Carbon (C/C).
- Be proficient with relevant modeling and analytical tools and methodologies.
- Have knowledge of various testing facilities including wind tunnels and arc jets.
- Experience as a Lead Engineer in roles such as Phase Lead or Subsystem Lead.
- Exhibit demonstrated leadership capability within a dynamic team environment.
- Possess the ability to advocate for EDL requirements to ensure critical event execution and mission achievements.
- Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with lead engineers and systems team to verify and test all system requirements.
- Facilitate integration and testing of the spacecraft, including cleanroom tasks and creating procedures for testing EDL software and hardware performance.
- Aid in coordinating timelines with the integration and test (I&T) lead to ensure EDL subsystem readiness and engineer availability for mission tests.
- Contribute to launch and spacecraft operations during the cruise phase by creating command sequences for monitoring the health of the EDL subsystem post-launch.
- Assist in readiness and delivery reviews for spacecraft integration.
- Ideally, support the execution of EDL critical event sequences upon reaching Titan.
