Requirements

Must:
- 5+ years of backend software development experience with automation, WMS, or industrial system integration - OR 7+ years of backend development with notable exposure to automation, PLCs, or robotics - Proven experience supporting or managing multi-site deployments or launching new facilities - Openness to participate in rotating on-call support for critical systems - Familiarity with distribution, manufacturing, life sciences, or high-volume fulfillment settings (preferred) - Experience with SAP EWM-integrated automation projects (preferred) - Knowledge of PLCs, robotics, or industrial Internet of Things (IoT) (preferred) - Experience with cloud and edge architecture (preferred)

Responsibilities

- Design and build backend services that manage and coordinate warehouse automation, including conveyors, scanners, labeling machines, and routing logic - Develop software that interprets scan data, applies business rules, and directs items to their appropriate destinations - Analyze current automation workflows and redesign processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and reliability - Connect enterprise WMS platforms (like SAP EWM) with automation systems through APIs, messaging, and industrial protocols - Assist in the launch and stabilization of a new distribution center in North Carolina, including testing and commissioning - Resolve automation issues in operational environments and perform root cause analysis across software and physical systems - Collaborate closely with operations, controls engineers, and IT to ensure the software aligns with actual warehouse workflows
