Senior Software Engineer - Robotics Automation

Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of backend software development experience with automation, WMS, or industrial system integration, OR 7 years of backend development with significant automation/PLC/robotics exposure
- Hands-on experience supporting automation in warehouse or manufacturing settings
- Familiarity with the impact of software decisions on physical flow, uptime, and throughput
- Willingness to participate in rotating on-call support for critical systems
- Preferred experience in distribution, manufacturing, life sciences, or high-volume fulfillment environments
- Background in SAP EWM-integrated automation projects, PLCs, robotics, or industrial IoT
- Knowledge of cloud and edge architecture
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend services overseeing warehouse automation operations, including conveyors, scanners, and routing logic
- Develop software that analyzes scan data, enforces business rules, and directs products to appropriate destinations
- Review current automation methods and redesign workflows to enhance speed, precision, and reliability
- Integrate enterprise WMS platforms (such as SAP EWM) with automation systems through APIs and industrial protocols
- Assist in the setup and launch of a new distribution center in North Carolina, including testing and stabilization phases
- Diagnose automation challenges in real-time environments and conduct root cause assessments
- Collaborate closely with operations, controls engineers, and IT to harmonize software design with practical warehouse operations
