Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data science or data engineering
- Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with Scala/Java for Spark
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Databricks (including Delta Live Tables)
- Strong cloud expertise in AWS (S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis) and/or Azure (ADLS Gen2, ADF)
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, ADF) and transformation frameworks (dbt)
- Knowledge of data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks SQL
- Proven success in optimizing cloud data environments for cost and performance
- Solid understanding of data modeling, CI/CD, Docker/Linux, and version control with Git
- Ability to convert business requirements into scalable data products and manage projects from start to finish
- Nice to have: Familiarity with custom Spark listeners, low-latency streaming, and healthcare data pipelines (FHIR)
- Experience with analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and MLOps best practices.
Responsibilities
- Design and enhance our lakehouse architecture, including storage layout and performance strategies on AWS/Azure
- Construct and maintain resilient batch and streaming data pipelines using Apache Spark, Databricks Workflows, and Azure Data Factory
- Develop and sustain analytical and machine learning-ready data models and semantic layers for business intelligence
- Implement features for observability and reliability, like custom metrics, anomaly detection, and data quality checks
- Optimize performance of computing and storage through techniques such as clustering, caching, and format selection
- Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure compliance and security measures
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and platform teams to define service-level agreements and manage incidents
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct design reviews to uphold standards for scalable and maintainable systems.
