Requirements
Must:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oil & gas title examination
- Consideration for experience outside Texas, specifically in Bakken, Oklahoma, and New Mexico
- Proven ability to negotiate and draft oil & gas agreements
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and assistance on a wide array of oil and gas issues, including exploration, production, transportation, and sales
- Draft title opinions that identify defects, liens, or other concerns affecting property ownership or usage
- Review and analyze documents such as leases, contracts, and deeds
- Offer guidance on compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, including litigation and arbitration
- Work collaboratively with other departments to pinpoint legal risks and devise risk management strategies
- Stay informed about changes in oil and gas law and industry trends
- Conduct training sessions for other departments on relevant legal matters
