Requirements
Must:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oil & gas title examination
- Experience in Bakken, Oklahoma, and/or New Mexico is a plus
- Proficiency in negotiating and drafting oil & gas agreements
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and assistance on various oil and gas matters, including exploration, production, transportation, and sales
- Draft title opinions that address defects, liens, or other potential issues affecting property ownership or usage
- Analyze legal documents such as leases, contracts, and deeds
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Represent the organization in legal matters, including litigation and arbitration
- Collaborate with various departments to identify legal risks and formulate management strategies
- Keep updated with changes in oil and gas law and industry developments
- Offer training to other teams on pertinent legal topics
