Requirements
Must:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oil & gas title examination
- Consideration for experience outside of Texas, particularly in Bakken, Oklahoma, and New Mexico
- Proficient in negotiating and drafting oil & gas agreements
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and assistance on various oil and gas matters such as exploration, production, transportation, and sales
- Draft title opinions addressing defects, liens, or other concerns affecting ownership or property use
- Review and analyze legal documents including leases, contracts, and deeds
- Advise on compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Represent the company in legal matters, including litigation and arbitration
- Collaborate with other departments to assess legal risks and formulate risk management strategies
- Keep abreast of changes in oil and gas law and industry developments
- Deliver training to other teams on relevant legal issues
