Requirements
Must:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice in at least one jurisdiction
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oil and gas title examination
- Experience in Texas, Bakken, Oklahoma, and/or New Mexico is desirable
- Proficient in negotiating and drafting oil and gas agreements
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and assistance on various oil and gas issues, including exploration and sales
- Draft title opinions that address defects, liens, or any concerns affecting property ownership
- Review and analyze leases, contracts, and deeds
- Advise on adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Represent our firm in legal matters, including litigation and arbitration
- Work alongside other departments to identify legal risks and formulate risk management strategies
- Keep informed about changes in oil and gas legislation and industry trends
- Train other departments on applicable legal matters
