Requirements
Must:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oil & gas title examination
- Experience considered from states other than Texas, particularly Bakken, Oklahoma, and New Mexico
- Proficient in negotiating and drafting oil & gas agreements
Responsibilities
- Provide legal guidance and assistance on a wide array of oil and gas matters, encompassing exploration, production, transportation, and sales
- Draft title opinions that identify defects, liens, or other issues affecting ownership or property use
- Analyze legal documents such as leases, contracts, and deeds
- Advise on compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, including litigation and arbitration
- Collaborate with other teams to identify legal risks and formulate risk management strategies
- Stay informed on updates in oil and gas law and industry trends
- Conduct training for other departments on pertinent legal issues
