Requirements
Must:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active Bar membership in California
- Law degree from an ABA-accredited institution
- Minimum of ten (10) years litigation experience, including handling cases from inception to trial
- At least seven (7) years of experience in civil litigation
- Proven trial experience with a minimum of 3 civil matters to verdict, preferred 5 near verdict
- First chair attorney experience in 3+ civil jury trials
- Experience with at least 5 bench trials preferred
- Knowledge in mediation and arbitration is highly advantageous
- Expertise in jury selection (voir dire)
- Strong ability to select and retain trial experts
- Proficient in drafting motions and conducting trials
- Skills in deposition preparation and execution
- Familiarity with Superior Court systems and procedures, along with federal court knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage up to 20 cases simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience in leading legal teams and mentoring junior staff
- Willingness to travel for trials and necessary appearances
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of civil litigation from case initiation to verdict, including initial assessments, discovery, and courtroom advocacy
- Gather and organize legal documents, evidence, and research for hearings, trials, and mediations
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the litigation team
- Draft and send correspondence to clients, experts, and opposing counsel
- Engage in pre-trial negotiations and manage motion practice
- Prepare for trials and post-trial motions to secure favorable client outcomes
- Mentor and develop junior attorneys within the team
