Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Registered Patent Agent with the USPTO
- At least 5 years of experience in patent prosecution, specifically in software technologies
- Strong knowledge of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and encryption
- Proven history of drafting and managing patent applications and portfolios
- Excellent technical writing capabilities, able to clarify complex ideas succinctly
- Proven ability to provide effective counsel to clients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with critical attention to detail
- Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Familiarity with patent databases and relevant tools
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction across all company levels
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and oversee patent applications for software technologies, focusing on areas like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and encryption
- Foster and manage patent portfolios, identifying new application opportunities
- Address Office Actions from the USPTO and other international patent offices
- Counsel and advise clients on patent-related issues, including patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom to operate
- Perform patent searches and analyses to inform business strategies and decisions
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to capture and document inventions
- Create technical and legal documents such as invention disclosures, patent applications, and responses to office actions
- Keep updated on advancements in software technologies and changes in patent law and regulation
