Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program - 7-10+ years of experience in Mechanical (HVAC) engineering and design; Plumbing and Fire Protection background is a plus - PE License is preferred - Experience with mission-critical projects in Data Centers or Healthcare is essential - Strong knowledge of cross-disciplinary project coordination in an A/E setting - Demonstrated experience on technically sophisticated project types - Ability to take responsibility for tasks and effectively interface with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams - Proficient in presenting design options to internal teams, architects, and clients for feedback and assessment - Capable of managing several design and construction projects concurrently in a collaborative environment - Detail-oriented with excellent time management and budgeting abilities to meet project timelines and obligations - Field experience with a solid grasp of construction methods, principles, and best practices - Proficient in tools such as Revit, AutoCAD MEP 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, Prolog, and Microsoft Office applications - Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

- Lead the mechanical project design and development process from concept through construction, serving as a senior technical engineer on assigned projects - Oversee, manage, and provide mentorship to members of the mechanical engineering team - Execute engineering evaluations to analyze existing systems and suggest solutions for performance enhancements, energy objectives, equipment replacement, end-of-life planning, spatial limitations, and project scheduling - Conduct engineering assessments, including load analyses, equipment selection, psychrometric studies, pressure-loss assessments, duct sizing, fixture loading, energy evaluations, and writing specifications - Develop detailed construction documents (drawings and specifications), addenda, bulletins, and transmittals - Identify opportunities for value engineering and enhancements for internal and externally designed projects - Participate in design and construction meetings; collaborate with architects, clients, project managers, and other trades throughout all phases of the project - Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, contractor questions, and design modification requests; issue formal responses and approvals when necessary - Carry out field surveys, site assessments, construction inspections, punch lists, and data gathering at project locations - Ensure adherence to International, National, State, and Local Codes, including NYC Mechanical, Building, Energy Conservation, and Fire Protection Codes, along with NFPA standards and all relevant rules and regulations - Complete all necessary energy compliance documentation, LEED calculations, and related certifications
