Requirements
Must:
- Expert knowledge of data engineering tools such as Python, R, and SQL for data processing
- Expert proficiency with AWS services, particularly S3, Redshift, FSx, Glue, and Lambda
- Extensive experience with relational databases
- Strong background in data modeling and database architecture
- Solid grasp of unstructured database technologies (e.g., NoSQL) and other database types (e.g., Graph)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and EKS/Kubernetes
- Experience with one or more R&D research processes and relevant regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards (CDISC, HL7, FHIR, SNOMED CT, OMOP, DICOM)
- Experience with big data technologies and processing
- Understanding of machine learning operations (MLOps) and model deployment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication abilities for stakeholder collaboration
- Experience in an Agile development setting
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field; Masters Degree preferred
- 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, at least 2 years focused on healthcare, research, or clinical data
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines for processing research and development data from various sources including Clinical Trials, Medical Devices, Pre-Clinical, Omics, and Real World Data using AWS technology
- Create and optimize ETL/ELT processes for both structured and unstructured data utilizing Python, R, SQL, AWS services, and other tools
- Build and manage data repositories using AWS S3 and FSx technologies
- Implement data warehousing solutions utilizing Amazon Redshift
- Develop and maintain standard data models
- Ensure data quality through frameworks, validation processes, and KPIs to maintain accuracy and consistency in data pipelines
- Enforce data versioning and lineage tracking for data traceability, regulatory compliance, and audit requirements
- Document data processes, architectures, and workflows
- Apply modern software development practices such as Code Versioning, DevOps, and Continuous Deployment/Integration
- Collaborate with R&D Researchers, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to comprehend data requirements and deliver suitable solutions in a global environment
- Adhere to data privacy regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR
- Deliver or support data literacy training across R&D as required
