Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in Java, Hibernate, and PostgreSQL
- Minimum of 5 years in Java/J2EE backend development
- Hands-on experience with LLMs (Claude, OpenAI) for generating production-quality code
- Capability to significantly enhance output through AI, including complex code generation
- Familiarity with embeddings, cosine similarity, vector pipelines, or related ML retrieval systems
- Expertise in PostgreSQL, focusing on performance optimization for large datasets
- Experience in deploying and managing systems on AWS
- Skilled with Git/GitHub
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent architectural reasoning skills
Responsibilities
- Design and scale Java/J2EE backend systems for large-scale search models and data pipelines
- Create high-performance data-access layers using Hibernate ORM
- Incorporate LLM workflows (Claude, OpenAI) into engineering processes and backend systems
- Use Claude to significantly enhance code output, scaling from thousands to tens of thousands of lines weekly as necessary
- Establish embedding-driven pipelines, vector workflows, and retrieval systems
- Architect and sustain distributed crawling and large data processing systems
- Optimize PostgreSQL for improved performance and high throughput
- Develop REST/JSON APIs and connect with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3)
- Contribute to UI components with JSF/PrimeFaces
- Enhance reliability, performance, observability, and scalability throughout the stack
- Participate in an availability rotation for critical engineering processes
- Create clean, testable code and proactively suggest architectural enhancements
