Requirements
Must:
- 12+ years of professional experience in database administration
- Strong expertise in MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Proven skills in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing techniques
- Solid understanding of backup strategies, restore processes, and high availability/disaster recovery configurations
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and managed database services
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows servers, shell scripting, and automation tools
- Knowledge of data security, auditing, compliance, and industry best practices
- Strong analytical and communication abilities to support cross-functional teams
- Experience with database monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Dynatrace, New Relic, Grafana, or Prometheus is a plus
- Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD methodologies, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible is an advantage
- Understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes is desirable
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL and NoSQL database systems in both production and staging environments
- Monitor database performance and proactively seek opportunities for optimization
- Implement security measures, user access management, and enforce encryption policies
- Manage backup and recovery processes and ensure disaster recovery readiness
- Oversee database replication, clustering, and ensure high availability
- Perform schema design, data modeling, capacity planning, and optimize storage solutions
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to query performance, locking, deadlocks, and connectivity
- Support patching, version upgrades, and regular maintenance of databases
- Automate administrative tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Collaborate with application developers and DevOps teams to enhance database reliability
- Create and maintain accurate technical documentation and operational manuals
