Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a comparable field OR equivalent relevant experience in place of a degree
- Over 5 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Network Automation roles
- Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS, on-prem K8s)
- Proficient with Docker/containerized network functions (CNFs)
- Familiar with AWS cloud environments
- Experience with Ansible and Terraform
- Strong scripting skills in Python
- Proven ability to build Grafana dashboards and alert logic
- Understanding of Kafka event streaming architectures
- Solid Linux system administration skills
- Knowledge of telecom architecture (4G EPC, 5G Core, IMS, Open RAN)
- Experience integrating probe-based observability (Viavi or similar)
- Comprehensive understanding of monitoring concepts: metrics, logs, traces, APM
- Excellent communication abilities, capable of presenting products, deliverables, analyses, and issues confidently
- Analytical mindset, able to assess situations or problems critically to make informed decisions or propose solutions
- Comfortable with managing upward, including proactive communication and seeking assistance when necessary
Responsibilities
- Lead the observability and automation initiatives within a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC)
- Participate in designing and enhancing observability frameworks using Grafana dashboards, health checks, Core CDR dashboards, probe integrations, and telemetry feeds
- Develop unified dashboards for comprehensive visibility across GRAN, Core, and Transport
- Optimize alarm thresholds to minimize false positives and alert storms
- Implement structured logging, metrics, and tracing for cloud-native network functions (CNFs)
- Create automation scripts (Python, Bash, Go) for auto-triaging alarms, conducting health checks, and triggering corrective workflows
- Build event-driven automation utilizing Kafka feeds from Mavenir and Gatehouse OSS
- Implement auto-remediation for commonplace failure scenarios, such as pod restarts or resource exhaustion
- Minimize manual NOC interventions through closed-loop automation
- Support CI/CD pipelines for Core and G-RAN cloud-native deployments
- Collaborate with Kubernetes (EKS Cloud) to monitor CNF health and automate scaling policies
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) for monitoring stack deployments
- Integrate observability tools into DevSecOps workflows
- Assist in Major Incident Management with telemetry insights and automated diagnostics
- Conduct post-incident analyses utilizing logs, traces, and performance metrics
- Propose and implement enhancements to reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Collaborate with engineering teams for root cause prevention
- Establish automation standards and reusable frameworks
- Document automation playbooks and observability architecture
- Lead initiatives to transition NOC operations from reactive to predictive
- Mentor junior DevOps and NOC engineers in automation best practices
