Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Digital Systems, Solid-state Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; masters degree is preferred
- Over 12 years of advanced engineering experience, primarily in Satellite Telecommunications or Wireless Communications
- Extensive knowledge of 3GPP standards (LTE, 5G NR - particularly Releases 17 - 19 for NTN)
- Strong comprehension of UE architecture, covering PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC, and NAS layers
- Practical experience in RF, modem design, or protocol stack development
- Understanding of UE conformance testing and NTN-specific features like SIB19/SIB31, Doppler compensation, and timing advance
- Familiarity with network simulation and testing tools (e.g., Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu)
- Knowledge of project management tools, including Jira, waterfall, Agile, or similar methodologies
- Proficiency with Wireshark or related protocol monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Experience with NGSO or satellite telecommunications systems is advantageous
- Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities, with a proven track record of fostering consensus, driving alignment, and encouraging innovation across teams
- Ability to execute tasks independently and spearhead new initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, quick adaptability, and delivering impactful results
Responsibilities
- Define and create an Iridium UE feature specification, ensuring alignment between external partner roadmaps and our companys strategy
- Oversee and maintain the UE portfolio of features in collaboration with multiple partners/vendors
- Convert network and service requirements into practical UE technical designs to support IoT NTN TDD and D2D services
- Ensure all designs meet the latest 3GPP standards and industry best practices
- Collaborate with device partners on end-to-end UE integration and testing
- Propel innovation throughout the entire 5G NTN system design, from conception to performance evaluation
- Assist the Iridium engineering team with troubleshooting and log analysis for quicker problem resolution
- Support demonstrations, trials, and field performance evaluations to highlight our technologys capabilities
