We are looking for an ideal candidate who possesses the following qualifications:
- Strong technical understanding with the capability to comprehend and articulate concepts related to flow, level, and process instrumentation.
- Proven skills in troubleshooting across electrical, electronic, and firmware systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities suitable for engaging with customers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in utilizing CRM or support ticketing systems to document and track support cases.
- Ability to interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and product specifications.
- Familiarity with basic testing equipment (such as multimeters and signal generators) and software tools for configuration or diagnostics.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and follow-through.
- Comfort in working independently in a fast-paced support setting while maintaining a customer-oriented approach.
- An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Experience in technical support, instrumentation, industrial automation, or process control.
- Prior experience supporting or working with flow meters, level sensors, or similar process measurement devices is preferred.
- Previous experience in creating or updating SOPs, training materials, or technical documentation is advantageous.
- Familiarity with calibration and configuration software and communication protocols (e.g., 4–20 mA, Modbus, HART) is a plus.
Responsibilities
As our Instrumentation Technical Support Specialist, your primary duties will include:
- Providing technical assistance by acting as the main point of contact for customers and distributors needing help with the installation, configuration, calibration, and operation of instrumentation products (e.g., flow and level measurement).
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues by analyzing product performance problems related to hardware, firmware, or applications and guiding customers through corrective actions via phone, email, or remote sessions.
- Documenting support cases by recording customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, and outcomes in the company’s CRM or support system to ensure traceability and enhance future responses.
- Developing and maintaining knowledge resources by creating and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting workflows, internal knowledge base articles, and training materials.
- Performing product testing and evaluation by recreating customer issues, verifying firmware revisions, and assisting with quality assurance testing of new hardware or software releases.
- Assisting the sales and order processing team by providing technical insights for quotations, product selection, and compatibility inquiries as required.
- Supporting warranty and RMA processes by helping customers identify potential product failures, determining warranty eligibility, and coordinating return, repair, or replacement procedures.
- Providing training and product demonstrations by conducting remote or onsite training sessions for customers, distributors, and internal staff regarding instrumentation setup, diagnostics, and best practices.
- Monitoring support trends and recommending improvements by tracking recurring issues, identifying training or product enhancement opportunities, and suggesting process improvements to optimize customer support operations.

Instruments Direct is a small yet established distributor and manufacturer of industrial instrumentation located in Canton/Holly Springs, GA. We are a growing and great place to work, dedicated to delivering high standards of technical support and ensuring customer satisfaction. This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, offering a competitive salary range of $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year along with benefits such as a 401(k) plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
