Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education, particularly in standardized and academic testing, is advantageous.
- Comfortable using standard office software and testing platforms.
- Ability to quickly learn specific Testing Center systems.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for testing equipment under supervision.
- Must maintain professional certifications and participate in ongoing training.
Responsibilities
- Provide vital front-line support to the Testing Center by proctoring exams according to established guidelines.
- Ensure test security and assist candidates with the check-in and examination processes.
- Vigilantly monitor testing sessions to uphold exam integrity and address any disruptions professionally.
- Promptly report issues to the Coordinator II or Director as necessary.
- Welcome candidates at the front desk, answering inquiries about Testing Center policies and procedures.
- Maintain a helpful and friendly demeanor when responding to basic inquiries via phone and email, referring complex issues to the Coordinator II or Director.
- Aid in coordinating candidate check-ins, scheduling appointments, and managing daily operations to foster efficiency.
- Prepare the Center for daily operations and confirm appointments, providing support during busy periods.
- Communicate Testing Center policies and procedures consistently to candidates, faculty, and staff.
- Stay updated on procedural changes and participate in required training for compliance with testing standards.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records and contribute to reporting processes to support informed decision-making.
- Uphold a positive, customer-focused attitude to provide an excellent experience for students, faculty, and the community.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Description
We are seeking a part-time Specialist I for our Testing Center, located within the Division of Enrollment at Sam Houston State University. This position offers a salary of $15.00 per hour and requires working up to 19 hours per week. The role is pivotal in ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for students, faculty, and community members, facilitating both testing and front-desk operations.
