Requirements
Must:
- 3–5+ years of professional experience developing WordPress and Drupal sites from start to finish.
- Strong expertise in PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS/Sass, and MySQL.
- Proficient in WordPress: Gutenberg, Custom Post Types/ACF, plugin development, and WP-CLI.
- Skilled in Drupal: versions 9/10/11, Composer, Drush, Configuration Management, Views, and Twig.
- Familiarity with headless architecture and REST/GraphQL is an advantage.
- Comfortable using Git, branching workflows, and conducting code reviews.
- Experience with design tools such as Figma or Adobe XD; able to create page comps/components from provided direction.
- Basic understanding of SEO principles, schema, and analytics tagging (GA4, GTM).
- Knowledge of security best practices and updates for both CMS platforms.
- Strong communication, estimation, and documentation abilities; capable of working autonomously.
Responsibilities
- Develop and customize themes and child themes for WordPress, and create custom themes with Twig for Drupal.
- Create reusable components/blocks using Gutenberg, Drupal Layout Builder/Paragraphs, and templates.
- Implement responsive layouts utilizing modern HTML5, CSS/Sass, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Connect social media advertising campaigns and backend development to Looker Studio dashboards for accurate data tracking and visualization.
- Build custom plugins for WordPress and modules for Drupal as required.
- Integrate third-party APIs (REST/GraphQL), forms/CRM, and marketing tools into projects.
- Configure content models, taxonomies, menus, and user roles/permissions effectively.
- Ensure projects meet WCAG 2.2 AA/Section 508 standards for quality and accessibility.
- Optimize Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), image pipelines, and caching/CDNs for performance.
- Ensure compatibility across different browsers/devices and maintain secure configurations.
- Utilize Git workflows, conduct code reviews, and implement CI/CD practices where applicable.
- Set up environments (e.g., Pantheon, Acquia, WP Engine, SiteGround) and oversee deployments.
- Write clear technical documentation and handoff notes; estimate tasks and meet deadlines.
- Maintain proactive communication regarding project scope, risks, and timelines.
- Translate brand guides, mood boards, and wireframes into refined UI designs.
- Create page-level designs and component specifications if not provided, using Figma or Adobe XD.
- Apply consistent typographic hierarchy, spacing, and accessible color contrasts in designs.
