Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in database administration, particularly with SQL Server 2016 and later versions.
- At least 2 years of experience in developing, revising, and maintaining system documentation.
- Proficiency in High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Familiarity with Transparent Data Encryption in SQL Server.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 support for complex applications using various versions of SQL Server, ensuring high availability and Disaster Recovery readiness.
- Assist in the planning, installation, patch management, upgrades, and support of Database systems.
- Assess the impacts of changes and new technologies, offering recommendations to resolve ongoing issues, acting as a liaison with external consultants.
- Adhere to and enforce database standards, procedures, and policies, while researching and drafting guidelines aligned with existing standards.
- Oversee space allocation across databases, making adjustments in test and development environments as needed.
- Calculate disk space needs for new and existing installations based on business requirements.
- Adjust Database Management System (DBMS) parameters according to capacity shifts.
- Conduct and manage database integrity checks.
- Install Database Management Software for development and testing.
- Implement patches and service packs in development and test environments.
- Support clustered database setups and database replication and backup processes.
- Manage database maintenance strategies, including space reclamation and fragmentation repair in test and development environments.
- Execute scripts for creating and modifying database structures as provided by Systems Analysts or Database Architects.
- Ensure database backups are monitored for recoverability and address any backup issues.
- Oversee jobs and scheduled tasks within development, test, and production environments, participating in troubleshooting as necessary.
- Monitor database performance and connectivity issues using various tools and alert mechanisms, responding to potential problems.

We are currently seeking a SQL DBA to provide crucial Infrastructure DBA support for SQL Server applications, filling in for an intermediate-level DBA transitioning out of our team. This role requires in-person presence twice a week, specifically on Mondays and Tuesdays, at our Lansing, MI location.
