Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field; Masters degree is highly preferred.
- Over 8 years of significant senior engineering leadership experience with direct responsibility for production releases and system reliability.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams comprising 10 to more than 20 team members, including hiring and performance management.
- Background in enhancing security and compliance posture, particularly with SOC 2 readiness and audit practices.
- Demonstrated experience in modernizing monolithic architectures effectively without interrupting delivery.
- Strong systems thinking regarding architecture design, integrations, and disciplined data modeling.
- In-depth knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, observability practices, and infrastructure operations.
- Security-oriented mindset with experience creating structured security programs.
- Willingness to travel as required and work extended hours when necessary.
- Flexibility to collaborate across various time zones and partner locations.
Responsibilities
- Establish predictable engineering delivery through sprint discipline, release planning, forecasting, and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Take ownership of production outcomes, including uptime, performance, reliability, incident response, and operational excellence.
- Implement standards to ensure release quality, rollback readiness, and comprehensive post-incident reviews and learning.
- Build and enhance DevOps as a vital function, modernizing CI/CD pipelines and deployment techniques.
- Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, environment management, and deployment safety.
- Strengthen AWS operational discipline and infrastructure practices, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) standards.
- Lead the advancement of platform maturity, directing architectural evolution of the current Node/Nest monolith on AWS.
- Simplify complexity within data models and integrations, enhancing scalability, maintainability, and system resilience.
- Drive practical modernization strategies, including modularization and selective decomposition, while steering clear of high-risk rewrite-first approaches.
- Define and execute a security roadmap that aligns with leadership priorities and customer expectations.
- Establish secure SDLC baselines, including access controls, governance practices, audit readiness, and progression toward compliance standards such as SOC 2.
- Own performance management, team structure, leveling frameworks, hiring strategy, and vendor partnerships.
- Foster a culture of accountability with clear ownership, high technical standards, and disciplined execution.
- Mentor and develop engineering leaders while establishing scalable career paths as the organization expands.
- Provide executive-level visibility into engineering performance, delivery predictability, and overall production health.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, architecture standards, and operational maturity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to balance innovation, risk management, and delivery timelines.
- Support long-term strategic planning related to platform evolution, scalability, and technology investments.
