Requirements
Must:
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years experience in public contact roles such as reception, security, social services, or related fields; or a comparable combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to engage with individuals from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.
- Excellent customer service capabilities with appropriate phone etiquette. Familiarity with customer service principles and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Understanding of standard office procedures and record-keeping techniques.
- Ability to adhere to instructions and make decisions in line with agency policies and procedures. Skills to juggle multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Capacity to uphold confidentiality and maintain professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Oversee security cameras to ensure residents comply with building rules.
- Manage visitor access to the property.
- Handle incoming calls, directing them appropriately, taking messages, and providing relevant information or community referrals.
- Maintain a comprehensive daily log of events occurring during shifts.
- De-escalate potentially volatile situations with courtesy and respect.
- Timely report required repairs to relevant staff members.
- Respond to emergencies by contacting 911 when necessary.
- Prepare monthly log sheets, process end-of-month paperwork, approve overnight stays, and oversee staff time-off requests and payroll management.
- Provide supervision to Front Desk Support staff members.
- Carry out additional tasks as required.
Description
We are the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (HASLC), a federally funded Special Purpose Government Agency dedicated to offering rent subsidies and developing affordable housing solutions for low-income residents in Salt Lake City. As the largest public housing authority in Utah, we serve over 10,000 individuals, including seniors, persons with disabilities, children, previously homeless individuals, and households with limited income, ensuring they have a place to call home. Our Front Desk Support II position is based at Sunrise Metro (580 S 500 W, SLC), with hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
