At Highgate, we are looking for individuals who possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with experience in a hotel or a similar field. While at least one year of relevant progressive experience is preferred, we also value trade school or college coursework in a related discipline. The role may require flexibility and long hours occasionally, and candidates should be prepared for heavy physical work, exerting over 100 pounds of force occasionally and over 50 pounds frequently. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with our team and our guests. You should be adept at listening, understanding, and clarifying any concerns that arise. The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines is crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Level 1 Engineer, I'll ensure the property remains in optimal condition with minimal disruption to our customers and employees. My responsibilities include: making repairs to the hotelโs air conditioning system, conducting preventive maintenance on all equipment (including boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems), taking necessary readings on equipment, testing cooling towers, and programming televisions. I will also replace light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs, perform furniture repairs, replace and repair pumps, and handle plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains and changing fittings. Understanding blueprints and wiring diagrams will be key for tracing and repairing water lines, troubleshooting kitchen equipment, and maintaining records of repairs and preventive maintenance. I'll adhere to local, state, and federal codes, as well as test and repair swimming pools and spas.
